Searching for new Halloween pumpkin decorating ideas? This year, try swapping the standard jack-o-lantern design for our Halloween Sprinkle Caramel Apple Pumpkin! This Halloween pumpkin involves painting rather than carving, and decorating the pumpkin with bright sprinkles, making for a colorful centerpiece to your Halloween table.

We're going to show you how to make a pumpkin look like a giant Caramel Apple in 6 easy steps:

SUPPLIES

  • 1 round pumpkin
  • 1 dowel rod
  • Brown craft paint
  • 1 paint brush
  • 1 glue stick
  • Halloween colored sprinkles
  • 1 coffee filter

STEP 1

Place your pumpkin on a cutting board. Holding the pumpkin tightly so it doesn't roll around, use a sharp knife to trim off the stem.

step-2

STEP 2

Set your pumpkin upright. Make a hole approximately the same size as your dowel rod in the top of your pumpkin (we used a knife sharpening rod) and push your dowel into the hole. You may need to cut your dowel rod down to the appropriate length for your pumpkin, prior to pushing it into the hole.

STEP 3

Give your pumpkin two coats of brown paint. Bring the paint slightly up the base of your dowel rod to represent the extra caramel on the stick of an Affy Tapple Caramel Apple.

step-4

STEP 4

After the paint is dry, use your glue stick to apply glue to one side of the pumpkin, about 3/4 up from the top. Press the Halloween colored sprinkles into the glue with your hands.

step-5

STEP 5

Continue gluing the sprinkles onto your pumpkin until all of the sides and base of the pumpkin are coated.

step-6

STEP 6

Leave your pumpkin to fully dry for 30 minutes to an hour. As the final touch, set your pumpkin in a coffee filter to replicate a caramel apple wrapper. Enjoy!
